Marriage Activity Recap: Lots of POP!

Our August Relief Society meeting was a lot of fun.

Each sister got a turn in the "pop quiz" hot seat and was asked to answer five questions. She would try to match what her husband said about the following:
Best feature, best quality, an example of sacrifice, dream vacation and a reason that you fell and love and got married.

It was so funny to hear what some husbands wrote. Each sister tried to match and if they were wrong, they had to eat a piece of bubble gum. :-)

Here is the full list of the men's responses. For sisters who are curious what their spouse said and didn't get to come, you can find your name to see what your husband wrote.

(Sorry it is difficult to read. You can click on the image to make it bigger. Or, if you need it even larger, hold down the ctrl button on your computer and press the + key to zoom in. To zoom back out, press ctrl and -)

For the husbands that didn't get a chance to fill out the form, a sister was able to read a quote from a general authority and share with us her personal insights.

It was a fun night for all, filled with lots of POP snacks to remind us to put some POP in our marriage!

Bubble gum and tootsie pops!

Yummy caramel popcorn!

Everyone's favorite picture with their husband.

Date ideas to share with all

Fun visiting

Even the babies loved it. :-)

New Babies!

Matt and Missy McKinley welcomed a new daughter into the world and we are so happy for them! Abilee arrived on August 6th at 3:00pm. She weighed in at 9 lbs 1 oz and was 20.5 inches long. Mom and baby are doing well. Congratulations McKinley family!

The Bradley family welcomed a new son into their home on Friday, July 27th! His name is Grayson and his parents, Courtney and Nate, and his big sisters are very happy to see him. Courtney had a C-section and is recovering well and we are very, very happy for the Bradley family.

Sweatin' Sisters

A special thanks to all those sisters who came out to our activity.

We had a great time and really worked up a sweat.

Rebecca Bell taught us a great cardio-strength exercise, and her fun music distracted us all.

We cooled down with yoga from Melinda Kunz and learned some new poses and stretches.

Last, we exchanged some healthy foods. Of course, some brought dark chocolate, because that counts! :-) right??

Anyway, we had a fun time and enjoyed each other.

See you next month!

Thanks for Supporting the Women's Conference

A special thanks to all those sisters who came to Waco to support the Stake Women's Conference.

It was a special program about how our lives are stitched together like quilts---sometimes we have a plan for the way things should turn out, but most times it is a little chaotic and haphazard.

It was fun chatting over some taco salad and then we went into the chapel for some guest speakers.

Sister Lunt and Sister Smith both talked about how we can get through hard times and how we don't have to be perfect.

Here's one of the quotes from the meeting that I enjoyed.

I think we can all use a reminder that we all are going through hard things, and the Lord is mindful of us.

If you're looking for a good read, check out Elder Worthlin's talk....it's surely one to put things in perspective.

Second Annual Service Auction in May

Our 2nd Annual Sister Service Auction will happen on Thursday, May 10th at 7:00 at the church. All sisters ages 12 and older are invited to attend. This is such a great opportunity to get to know one another better as we play together and serve one another in many unique ways. It may also help our young women transition into RS in a few years if they are aware that WE HAVE FUN... sometimes!! (Why do they assume that RS is boring?)

Here's how it works: next week we will again hand out certificates and ask you to fill out at least one certificate for the auction. You may also email the description of your service item to this email address and we will fill out a certificate for you. These certificates will list a service that you are willing to perform for another sister in the ward sometime during the coming year. Despite what you may believe, the possibilities for you to perform a valuable service are endless! Here are a few examples of items from last year that were auctioned: dinners prepared for a family, the oil changed in a car, hand crafts, baked yummies, babysitting hours, lunch out with a friend, help with genealogy, massages. . . what else? As you can see, everybody has something they can offer.

The currency we use at the auction is points. Everyone who attends the auction will fill out a survey when they get to the auction. They answers to the survey questions will earn you a certain number of points. Don't worry--everyone will have plenty of points to spend! The auctioneer will describe an auction item and let the bidding begin! It is a fun time and the services rendered over the next several months provide opportunities for sisters to get to know and love each other better. Please join us!
